Many people think that once you have been baptized as a Christian, you can just sail through life without needing to know anything else about the Bible. In reality, though, knowledge is power and the best way to ensure yourself a place in Heaven is by deep engagement with the Bible. In this post we will be going over various ways to deepen your knowledge of the Holy Scriptures and how it applies to every day life. It is true that the Bible is one of the best selling books of all time, but many people find it difficult to pursue this book with diligence. 1. Read your Bible. This may seem like a no-brainer, but the fact is most Christians do not read their Bibles enough. It’s not hard to ask for guidance about how much is enough; just spend some time with God asking him how you should be studying his word and stick to that plan. 2. Join a Bible study. If you can, find a Bible study to join in your church or community. If you can’t find one, start one of your own. The more you learn about the Bible, the more you will be able to put it into practice in your life. 3. Familiarize yourself with different translations. This is not so much about reading the Word as it is about communicating it well to others who are struggling with its meaning. It’s always better for someone else to explain things to you than for you to have to guess what they are talking about because no one has explained it well beforehand. 4. Re-read the Bible. Reading it once is not enough. If you are still struggling to understand the Word of God, read it again. If you are struggling, ask for help in prayer and turn to God in earnest asking him for forgiveness for any mistakes you may have made previously in understanding what he has said before. He promised that he would never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). Your commitment to read his Word will help you move forward without missing a beat. 5. Ask questions about the Bible when someone is willing to answer them. A lot of Christians find it embarrassing to ask questions about their faith and so they don’t. This is a mistake because it will not only give you a chance to learn more about the Bible but will also open up opportunities for spiritual conversations with other Christians. This is a win-win situation! 6. Take into account the diversity of the Bible. A lot of people tend to only think in terms of what they believe in rather than what they don’t believe in, but the Word of God has been quoted by people from different ethnicities, races, genders and generations throughout history, which gives you a better understanding of how he spoke to these different groups. cfa1e77820
